ZeEUS – Zero Emission Urban Bus System

Bringing electrification to the heart of the urban bus network

Unveiling results from ZeEUS demonstrations: Warsaw

Published on

As we are approaching the last month of the ZeEUS project, we are happy to share with you the results of the ten ZeEUS demonstrations cities, which have been the vital labs for testing electric bus real operational scenarios across Europe. This week we are presenting the results from Warsaw.

The objective of the Warsaw Demo was to test the performance of ten 12m electric buses with fast charging infrastructure at terminal stops and at the bus depot, and to demonstrate that they are fully substitutable for their diesel counterparts on the same route. The demonstration was launched in June 2015 and is still ongoing. The ten buses run on the line 222, which passes through the congested centre as well as the historic part of the city. The entire line is operated solely with e-buses.

Warsaw will keep pursuing the zero emission path started with ZeEUS. In 2018 MZA will operate already a total of thirty 12m electric buses. Between 2019 and 2020, MZA intends to purchase 130 articulated e-buses to further pursue the electrification of the city centre.
